Earth-wood products are manufactured using Wood Polymer Composite technology.
Wood Polymer Composite products are a unique blend of specific virgin or recycled polymers combined with recycled or reclaimed wood flour (fine sawdust). These two components are then compounded together under controlled temperatures and conditions, and are then extruded into high quality boards for use in numerous industries where resistance to high exposure is required.
 
 
Earth-wood products contribute immensely to the protection of our environment in a number of areas that include:
 
  • Earth-wood is manufactured from a fully sustainable and renewable resource.
  • Earth-wood removes huge volumes of wood and polymer from the waste stream.
  • Earth-wood is made using 95% recycled materials and is itself recyclable.
  • Earth-wood contains no harmful chemicals, glues, preservatives or agents.
  • In 2005 a number of countries exceeded their sustainable levels of de-forestation quota’s, some as early as July. However in these countries aggressive devastation continued, in many cases with the felled trees being transported illegally through neighbouring countries.
  • Earth-wood primarily replaces hardwoods and as such contributes to the continued reduction of the destruction of the Worlds Rain Forests
  • Earth-wood is virtually non porous and non absorbent and as such it does not harbour bacteria nor will it allow bacteria to breed in it. Thus removing the effects of wet and dry rot along with insect damage and therefore the subsequent need to repair or replace as frequently as you do as a result of these issues.   
  • Earth-wood is the only wood based pedestrian surface product in Europe to have passed British Standard levels for its Anti slip/Skid resistance and to have achieved a significantly better anti slip result in comparative testing against old and new hardwood boards using BS-EN standards.  
  • Earth-wood is easily cleaned and can be power washed without the need for harsh cleaning solutions or chemicals.

Earth-wood products virtually eliminate the need for ongoing maintenance and repair caused by weathering, fungal & insect damage. They have exceptional UV stability and retain their appeal for many years.
 
The Lifetime cost of maintenance and repair (due to rot and weathering) and replacement which in some instances can be required a number of times during the lifetime of a product is substantial.  Over time these costs are continually increasing so the use of Earth-wood products will save huge amounts of time and resources and will free future resources up for more important uses than maintaining, repairing and replacing of products which could have been avoided.
